My trip has been completed. It was such an amazing experience. I will never forget everyone I met. They mean so much to me, and I will never forget any of them. Saying goodbye was the hardest thing I have ever done, and God truly blessed me with such a talented and wonderful group of people. My name is Scott Wilkins. I am a sophomore at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. This summer I will be biking across the country from Manteo, North Carolina to San Diego, California to raise funds and spread awareness for affordable housing in the United States. This program- called Bike and Build- has raised over 1,100,000 dollars since 2002 in the name of affordable housing. This trip will take me on adventure covering 8 states and over 3500 miles. While on the trip we will visit with local communities to tell them how they can contribute to the cause of affordable housing. We will also stop in several towns to help build houses with organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and Rebuilding Together.
We will be staying in churches and community centers at night and will give presentations to our hosts as well as provide bike safety clinics for children at our host site.

You can click on the “Where I Am” tab to see a map of our planned trek and see which towns we will be staying in at night. We will be biking an average of 75 miles a day, and the “Where I Am” tab includes the expected milage we will bike each day.
